“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” John 3:16
Ornament with a message.
The true message of Christmas is often lost in the hustle and bustle of every day life. Children are not hearing about Jesus in school unless it is through an after school Good News Club or in a derogatory manner. Imagine the child that asked his teacher “I like the stories of Jesus, but why did they give Jesus a swear word for His name?”
So this Christmas season when you help children make a craft, make it a craft with a message. Here is what you do.
Each child cuts out a Christmas tree. You could use felt, tag board, heavy construction paper or anything green that will hold its shape.
From white, black, and red (use same material as above) punch holes with a large paper hole punch. Glue the balls to the tree. Glue a length of metallic thread or yarn to the top of the tree for a hanger. Add 2 gold stars to the top of the tree (one on front and one on back.)
Now you are ready to give the Gospel message using the colors of the tree and ornaments. To help you know what to say click on How to Get to Heaven.
Children can take the ornament home and put it on their tree. Encourage them to share the story with their family and friends.
Enjoy learning the following song with the children to remind them about heaven:
New words to "Home, Home on the Range"
Oh, give me a home
With Jesus, God’s Son,
In the heavenly mansions on high.
Where there never is night
For the Lamb is the light,
And those who live there never die.
Home, heavenly home
Would you like to make heaven your home?
If Jesus you trust in
He’ll forgive all your sin
And give you a heavenly home.
If someone with whom you are sharing the Gospel is saved through the message, please contact us. We would love to hear about it. Something else you may want to do is enroll them in the Mailbox Club lessons.
Check out this page often. We will change the ideas. If you have a favorite idea we could use on the internet, please contact us.
